Background
I was born in Oslo in February 1975 and spent my first two years in Norway. After that I have lived at several places in Sweden. After compulsory school I studied Natural Science at Katrinelund upper secondary school in Sundsvall (1991-94). Shortly thereafter I did military service 10 months at A4 (artillery), Ă–stersund. After this, in 1995, I started studying Computer Science at Uppsala University which resulted in a Masters of Science degree in 1999. Finished with my studying I then moved back to Sundsvall to start my working career.
After having worked as a software developer in Sundsvall for several years, first at Xinit AB (later Arrowhead AB) and thereafter at Swedish Connection, I moved to Hanoi, Vietnam in August 2006 in order to deepen my knowledge in the Vietnamese language at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, for one school year.
When I was finished with my studies at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in the summer of 2007 I began to explore the possibility to stay in Hanoi and find a job where I could combine my knowledge in Vietnamese with my experience in software development. In August 2007 this led to my employment as a project manager at Skills Group in Hanoi, Vietnam.
After working with project management for almost one and a half year I wanted to focus more on software development and in January 2009 I started working as software developer at Red River Interactive.
In February 2011 I moved back to Sundsvall, Sweden, where I work as a software developer for Know IT.
Interests
I've been interested in computers all since I first tried my father's Mac Plus in the 80's. I've had a couple of machines since then and presently I'm a proud owner of a PowerBook G4 and a Sony Vaio VGN-U8G. What interests me the most is programming, design and user interface. I'm very interested in music, so that occupies much of my spare time. I like to stay in shape, so whenever the weather is good I run a few laps in the nearby park.
My big interest is Vietnam. I have been there many times and I've made many vietnamese friends both in Sweden and Vietnam. My interest in Vietnam also resulted in that I started self-studying Vietnamese. In order to learn the language fluently and to learn more about the country, I decided to move to Vietnam to study Vietnamese at university level. I stayed in Vietnam for more than 4 years and in my job as a software developer in Hanoi I had the chance to use Vietnamese on a daily basis.
